    Yesss!!! I feel dumb...
    04-Feb-2001 06:12 AM

It's server upgrade time, so as I'm moving to the new server I discover that my code is riddled with some annoying bugs (at least if you use the template.inc file that went out w/ the last release)...
To list a few of those:
  • Some message about Original Template Finished cropped up (turns out my includes path actually checked the phplib dir first, so the demo site never used the broken file)... this has been fixed.
  • PHP4 compatiblity was busted as a function of PHPLIB's setblock function not working under PHP4. I first found this when I was looking at the code under PHPTriad for Win32, and thought it was just a Win32 expressions thing, but it is actually a difference between PHP3 and PHP4 in the way they handle some expressions... so I've made yet another hack (adding some '{''}' if floor(phpversion) >= 4)) to work around this.

  • So what's new then?
  • Bug Fixes! (Whoo hoo!)
  • How about PHP4 support? PHP3 still works fully too, but since my dev home is now on a PHP4 box I'm not going to promise that the same will be true of future releases.
  • PHPTriad V1.4 compatiblity provided you add .; (don't make me use blink!) to the include_path setting in C:\APACHE\PHP\PHP.INI. There will be an auto installer for this very shortly, but you'll still have to make the change to the PHP.INI file for it to work.
  • Plz! If I screw up, let me know about it! Use the feedback form or send an email.

    With that PR#1 is away!

PHPWidgets! Basics Move Info Close
So you're looking at the page and saying to yourself oh boy another Slashdot or PHP Nuke rip-off...

Well, that's not quite what we are after here... PHPWidgets! is not about the content, it's the architecture used to deliver it.

Each box you see on this page is a seperate widget (comes from a seperate .php file) or an aliased widget (i.e. a widget with a different datafile parameter).

This widget an alias to the 'list' widget using the 'basics.list' datafile. The 'links' widget is another alias of the 'list' widget.

The real power of this site is in the ability to personalize it.

    Check it out

In the title of this widget (and every other one execpt the metasearch), there are 3 buttons:
  • Move The Move button - this will allow you to reposition any widget on the page.
  • Info The Info button - doesn't do much now, but hopefully this one will eventually display caching info.
  • Close The Close button - done reading this widget? click on this button to get rid of it :)
  • This in combination with the link right below the logo 'Add a widget' give you full freedom to customize this page to your preference...
